Presidents Report - Paul Hawker
Campbelltown Rotary is fast becoming the BBQ Sausage kings of the South West, once again thank you to the members who set up and cooked for the Council Staff Children’s party yesterday. I look forward to seeing all hands on deck for the Christmas Carols on the 7th December at the Athletic Centre.
The next meeting in December will be the Club’s AGM at which time we need to elect a new board for 2020/2. In order to grow our club we need to consider how we approach the next few years. The current board needs to refresh as this will allow new ideas to flow. Young membership is the key to growth and we will have to look at how we engage with the local youth. We also have to find other ways of raising funds and not rely on BBQs.
The last of our social events was held last Wednesday at Ingleburn Bowling Club where once again Ingleburn Rotary proved too strong in our Annual clash. We should prevail in 2020 dues to our home advantage. Thank you to George for organising the event.
We will conclude our year with the Christmas party kindly hosted by Danny & Sherie.

Secretaries Report - Danny Avalos
I am currently three weeks into a 12-week program to learn how to complete long-distance ocean swims and to raise funds for cancer research, prevention and care. A cure for cancer is close to my heart as both my parents are currently undergoing treatment for this horrible decease. Last year I lost a dear friend to cancer and she taught me to take hold of life and live it to the fullest. Natalie, I'm living it to the fullest!
Saturday's training swim at Elouera Beach - Cronulla
Items to be purchased
At the last BBQ that I attended Keith raised several things that the Club needs to look at funding:
1. We are need of new Aprons the current ones are starting to look untidy.
2. The Club needs to invest in a small bin to promote recycling, with the large number of drinks that we sell at fundraising events we really need to take advantage of the money that can be earned through the return and earn recycling program.
Rotary Youth Exchange Program
Recently Cordelia the student that our Club is sponsoring, and her mother attended our Monday night meeting.
Cordelia has started her Rotary Youth Exchange training in preparation for her 12-month exchange to Germany, as she gets closer to her departure date Cordelia will once again visit the Club to give us an update on her preparation.
Please remember that part of the exchange program is that we as a Club have reciprocal agreement to host a student.

The Clubs last BBQ for the year will be a big one – we will finish with the Campbelltown Christmas Carols. We will need all hand on deck as this is a long and busy night.
The free festivities on Saturday 7 December will bring The Athletics Centre alive with the Christmas cheer with pre-show entertainment at 5pm followed by carols from 6pm then concluding with the spectacular fireworks at 9pm.
A big thank you to the Members and friends that helped out at Sundays BBQ.

A great night at a Bowling challenge between the Rotary Club of Campbelltown and the Rotary Club of Ingleburn followed by a lovely dinner. Congratulations to Ingleburn for winning 2019 bowling challenge, we took out the 2018 challenge and thought we’ll let them win this time 😂 They were actually too good this time🏆

1) TheCalling and Purpose of an Annual General Meeting
An association’s constitution must specify the manner of calling an AGM and the manner in which notice of the AGM is given. If the Model constitution applies, members must be given at least 14 days’ notice of an AGM or 21 days’ notice if a special resolution is to be proposed. The statutory purpose of the AGM is the submission of the association’s financial statements (and if required, the auditor’s report) to the meeting.
If the Model constitution applies, the business of the AGM is to:
confirm the minutes of the last AGM and of any special general meeting held since that meeting
receive committee reports on activities of the association during the previous financial year
elect or appoint office bearers and ordinary committee members
receive and consider the association’s financial statements or reports required to be submitted to members under the Act
2) Rotary Newsflash! Nigeria reached the crucial polio milestone on 21st August 2019 which means that it’s possible for the entire World Health Organization (WHO) African region to be certified wild poliovirus-free next year. Dr. Tunji Funsho, chair of Rotary’s Nigeria National PolioPlus Committee, acknowledges the milestone but cautions Rotary members about celebrating too soon. He cites the challenge of making certain that routine immunizations reach every child in Nigeria. This is done by meticulously marking the outside of the house as the children are immunized. Time consuming but effective. For the full story : https://www.rotary.org/en/nigeria-reaches-crucial-polio-milestone
3) On Friday evening at the AGM and President's meeting, David Hirsch from the Rotary Club of Sydney spoke about the Peace Building Project. Creating a peaceful society doesn’t just mean preventing conflict. It also requires building better economic and social conditions by improving education, economic opportunity, and gender equality. He reiterated Peace is more than just the absence of violence. Peace is ensuring there is justice for all. For those who missed the presentation, or would like to know more, the Rotary Positive Peace Academy offers a free online course which can strengthen your peacebuilding skills.
Learn about peace and conflict issues and how to put Positive Peace into action in your community.
Get access to the most up-to-date information from the Institute for Economics and Peace in the 2019 Global Peace Index and Positive Peace Index. 4) Bushfire Relief and Support. There have now been three RAWCS accounts set up to help people who are suffering terribly from the bushfires. Please access any of the sites below for your generous donations.
5) Police Officer Brett from the Balmain Exhibit Office Lost and Found at Balmain Police Station, has contacted Rotary to say they have collected a large number of good adult bikes, including Mountain Bikes, that have small defects but that are destined for landfill. Is there a Rotary Club or Rotary Network that could fix the minor defects and take them either to distribute to needy families or sell them and raise much needed funds toward Rotary projects? If you would like to take on this project please contact Brett at cloa1bre@police.nsw.gov.au or phone 9556 0624.
6) Christmas Gifts. RDU has some merchandise on sale just in time for Christmas. Please go to
7) Each year the Rotary Club of Darling Harbour holds a 'Pop-up Boutique' to raise money for Dress for Success. This NFP supports women who are about to enter, or re-enter the workforce after dis-enabling and/or debilitating life experiences. This support can be for apparel, mentoring and/or skills suitable for interviews and for employment. An event was held on Thursday 21st November at Customs House and has been acclaimed as ' a roaring success' with early indications of a net profit of about $22,000. While the profit is for Dress for Success, the Rotary Club also earns monies for their projects. Congratulations to all who volunteered to help make it a such a successful day.
