Rotary International Annual Report
In June 2017, the Rotary International Board of Directors and Rotary Foundation Board of Trustees approved Rotary’s new vision statement:

Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

This statement reflects both our identity and our purpose — the organization we are now, and the organization we are working to become........
District Information

1) The RI Zone 8 History and Archives Committee is writing and publishing The History of Rotary in Oceania – 1921 to 2021. PDG Harry Durey is the RI History and Archives representative for our District and is requesting all Rotarians to search records and archives for relevant material. Historical photographs should be carefully labelled and packed for postage, or photographed and forwarded to him in stand alone jpeg or word files. Please DO NOT embed photographs with emails and editorial copy. He is looking for articles of special and unique interest from clubs. The following  have been suggested by D9650 clubs:

2) RI President Mark Maloney is committed to advancing women in Rotary. He is determined to see an increase in the number of women and in particular, women in Rotary leadership positions.  Currently, women make up 23 percent of our membership and represent, on an average, 20 percent in leadership positions. All Rotarians have a responsibility to help our organization diversify and grow so that we can remain relevant for future generations.  A webinar on this topic has been organised for Thursday 29th August from 6 to 7AM. The Webinar will exploring the barriers that women face when considering leadership positions

5)There has been a request from a group called Tribal Warrior which is based in Redfern and has a focus on ensuring indigenous youth set their sights in the right direction. There are about 12 staff working in the office, many of whom are volunteers, using office furniture cobbled together from whatever they could get, and badly in need of replacement. There may be offices in the city discarding perfectly useable furniture that Tribal Warrior would be delighted to use. Donations in Kind might also be a possibility.

Is there a Rotary Club willing to take up this challenge to find some office furniture for this needy group? Your only cost would be to transport the furniture to Tribal Warrior, once you have located the furniture.

Their website is https://tribalwarrior.org  and they are located at 27 Cope St Redfern.  (ph) 02 96993491 (e) info@tribalwarrior.org
