If your club is going to take part in the Polio Train Ride on 24th October by presenting a cheque at a train station please let Mark Anderson know. Mark needs this information so that if a connection is missed or there is a delay, the club can be contacted to let you know.
Please give Mark your
- Club name
- Contact name and phone number
- Station and time (some stations are passed through a number of times)
- Amount to donate (so Mark can get some sort of indication towards the tally)
The train timetable is attached as well as the template for the “cheque” presentation.
Mark is also requesting if there is a club in the Macarthur area who would be able to organise a dinner to be sponsored and delivered to Macarthur Station at 7:47PM on the day. Breakfast and lunch are both being sponsored and the deliveries organised, but dinner is still a gap. At best estimate there will 6 Rotarians who are completing the full journey.
Please wear the red End Polio Now shirt if possible. RDU now have stock. Mark has the publicity organised.

3. Community groups across NSW are being challenged to brush up their creative skills for this year’s Graffiti Removal Day by creating murals. Preventing graffiti is the focus for this year’s event on Sunday, 27 October. Since the event started in 2012, volunteers have removed more than 141,000sqm of graffiti, saving the community $10.4 million. This year, as well as removing graffiti we want to see ugly tags with no artistic merit covered by colourful murals to help stop graffiti from occurring in the first place. To help inspire people there is a competition to find the best mural in the state with a $1000 first prize. Several schools in the Georges River area have already kicked off the competition with over 500 students combining to create a community mural at Carss Park. They are also challenging other groups to enter the competition. Graffiti Removal Day ambassador and football legend Mark Geyer OAM congratulated the students and threw his support behind the event. Up to 3000 volunteers from various groups including Rotary, Scouts NSW, Girl Guides NSW&ACT, Air Force Cadets, PCYC, NSW Police, Lions, church groups, high schools and 80 councils are expected to remove graffiti from over 600 sites across NSW on Sunday 27th October. All material and equipment required for Graffiti Removal Day is supplied to volunteers for free by sponsors Dulux, NSW Government, Australian Rail Track Corporation and Southern Cleaning Supplies. This event will take you to some of the outback’s most iconic landmarks and give you a fascinating insight into rural areas and the challenges that people who live there face. 9. In today’s technology-driven world, more members are turning to Rotary.org, Rotary’s social media accounts, and other online Rotary channels to get the information they need. Fewer and fewer members are using Rotary Shop to order printed materials or to purchase Rotary branded merchandise. Because of members’ changing needs, the Rotary Shop will cease operating in April. The most popular publications will be available digitally on various Rotary websites. Some publications will even be offered as print-ready files that you can take to a printer to produce locally. Rotary merchandise can be purchased directly from approved licensed vendors.
More information will be available in the coming months. If you have any questions, please contact rotarysupportcenter@rotary.org.
